Server settings for the TDS email system

Here are the settings to reconfigure your email client so it receives TDS email from the new system:

     Incoming Mail (POP3) Server:
          DNS: mail.tds.net
          Authentication Used: SSL
          Port: 995

     Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server:
          DNS: mail.tds.net
          Authentication Used: SSL
          Port: 993

     Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:
          DNS: mail.tds.net
          Authentication Used: TLS
          Port: 587

How do the 3 different email settings differ?

Webmail: Gives you access to TDS Email via tds.net. This is the recommended method for accessing TDS Email. You simply use any Internet-connected browser and go to tds.net. From there, use your TDS Email Username and password to log in to your mailbox.

POP: Allows you to access your TDS account through a third-party email client (such as Outlook Express) This method doesn’t require a constant connection to the Internet. And, it allows you to keep your own backup copy of emails (Note: once you download an email off the TDS server, TDS no longer keeps a copy of it). However, using this method can cause support issues. And, you can only access your email from one computer.

IMAP: is the best method for accessing your email from multiple devices. It allows you to check your email at work, on your mobile phone and at home. It ensures the actions you perform on your email client and other devices instantly (and automatically) appear in Webmail. There can be support issues with a third-party email application, however. And, it may take your email client a long time to synchronize with the server if you have a lot of email messages.
