How to configure/update TDS Mail settings in Outlook 2010
Former Bendbroadband customers
To configure Outlook 2010 to work with TDS Mail, follow these directions:
- Open Outlook.
- Click the File, and select Info.
- Click Add Account.
- Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From:" field of outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Enter your full TDS Email address.
- Password: Enter your TDS Email password.
- Retype Password: Enter your TDS Email password.
- Click Next.
- Click Finished.
To manually set up Outlook 2010 to work with TDS Mail (IMAP), follow these directions:
- Open Outlook.
- Click the File, and select Info.
- Click Add Account.
- Click (manually configure server settings or additional server type) and click Next.
- Select Internet E-Email and click Next.
- Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
- User Information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From:" field of outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Your full TDS Email address.
- Server Information:
- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming mail server (IMAP): mail.tds.net
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.tds.net
- Login Information:
- User Name: Your full TDS email address.
- Password: Your TDS Email password.
- Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Leave this unchecked.
- User Information:
- Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
- Place a checkmark in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Place a checkmark in the box labeled This Server requires an encrypted connection and select TLS from the drop down menu.
- The Incoming server (IMAP) setting will automatically change to 993. This is correct.
- Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) setting to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
To manually set up Outlook 2010 to work with TDS Mail (POP), here are the directions:
- Open Outlook.
- Click the File, and select Info.
- Click Add Account.
- Click (manually configure server settings or additional server type) and click Next.
- Select Internet E-Email and click Next.
- Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
- User Information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From:" field of outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Your full TDS Email address.
- Server Information:
- Account Type: POP
- Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.tds.net
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.tds.net
- Login Information:
- User Name: Your full TDS Email address.
- Password: Your TDS Email password.
- Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Leave this unchecked.
- User Information:
- Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
- Place a checkmark in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Place a checkmark in the box labeled This Server requires an encrypted connection and select TLS from the drop down menu.
- The Incoming server (POP3) setting will automatically change to 995. This is correct.
- Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) setting to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
To manually update Outlook 2010 to work with TDS Email, here are the directions:
- Open Outlook.
- Click the File.
- Click Account Settings, then Account Settings...
- Select customer's TDS email address from the list and click Change...
- Update the following information:
- Server Information:
- Incoming mail server (IMAP): mail.tds.net
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.tds.net
- Server Information:
- Click More Settings...
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) setting to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
Former Bendbroadband accounts use the following settings instead of the ones listed below in the step by step instructions.
Incoming server: pop-server.bendbroadband.com
: (IMAP) Port 143 (POP3) Port 110
Outgoing server: smtp-server.bendbroadband.com
: (IMAP or SMTP) Port 25
Secure Authentication: checked yes
or
Optional setting: (IMAP or SMTP) Port 465
Transport Layer Security (TLS)*: checked yes
*On some devices, TLS may not be an option, in which case checking Secure Socket Layer (SSL) may allow TLS
